Drama and Performance Studies are taught in a way that is practical, exciting and engaging. Students learn how to analyse, discuss and devise theatre, as well as develop performance skills. The curriculum is brought to life through lessons, where many are run as workshops allowing students explore how to use their voices and bodies on stage.
Drama and performance study students at Dinnington High School are encouraged to explore a range of performance styles; very often students work as part of a group to perform. This collective and group approach allows student to take on a broad range of roles from acting, directing and designing within their own production. Furthermore students are encouraged to take part in whole school showcase events where the school doors are opened to a community audience to show off our amazing talents in performance.
Our students have opportunities to take part in theatre visits, workshops with professionals, audition workshops with our drama club. Many of our drama and performance students have gone on to pursue a career in the performing arts and are currently working in theatre or studying theatre at university; this is testament to our staff who work hard to bring a curriculum to life and inspire young people every day.
